Going green with solar power
Martin Distributing Company is leading the way for local business and communities to make a positive environmental impact by installing 260 solar panels on the roof of the warehouse. This installation is estimated to produce 72,000 killowatt hours of electricity every year. According to Mountain View Solar & Wind, "This is the largest solar array in the state of West Virginia right now, and the first commercial business in the city of Martinsburg to install solar panels." Essentially, the solar panels on the roof will offset the energy that is being used in the building. The power of the sun will be harnassed to cool the company's large beer and wine warehouse. If the panels generate more electricity than the building itself is using, the energy will be put back into the grid and generate a credit for future use.
